This year’s big Spring cleanup this past Sunday during Pitch-in week was successful once again netting a dozen or so bags of trash from the area around the Tower Hill Dog Park. Although we do quick cleanups monthly, we cover a larger area with this yearly endeavor and are often surprised by what we [...]

Unfortunately, the updates caused a couple of frustrating issues, including one affecting the viewing of our galleries. We have finally tracked down the conflict and fixed it so the galleries are working once again. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Uploads of photos from a number of events this year are in progress. Be sure to have a look!
The weather FINALLY cooperated with the ushering of Santa into Richmond Hill this year! No rain, thank goodness. The weather stayed seasonally cool although the light dusting of snow we had in the morning didn’t stick around long enough to lend it’s holiday backdrop to the parade.
We had a great group of humans & [...]
We had a great time at our 1st Annual Pawsitively Festive Fundraiser on Sunday!

It’s hard to believe Christmas is right around the corner, but the cold moving in, along with the flurries over the past couple of days, is a sure sign our shopping days are dwindling!

Once again our local OSPCA is in the news. MPP Frank Klees brought to light that 3 employees of the shelter had been fired after protesting the number of animals being euthanized at the Newmarket shelter. The allegations are that 40-70 animals are euthanized every week often needlessly, without being checked by a vet and [...]

Richmond Hill Town Council ratified on Monday evening, June 25, 2012 what they agreed last week: There would be no changes/mitigation at Tower Hill Park and that its fate remains status quo until they receive and review a staff report expected 14 months after the new off-leash facility is open at Phyllis Rawlinson’s Park.
At the Committee of the Whole meeting this evening, Town Council voted unanimously that no money will be spent on mitigation.
After review of the staff report and listening to many delegations including the Richmond Hill K9 Klub and the Tower Hill Off-Leash Rally (THOR), Richmond Hill Council determined that any any mitigation efforts would not satisfy [...]

Since the purpose of this blog is that of providing information to help people and their pets achieve and sustain wellness, it is critical that we discuss a health risk that is of particular concern at this time of year, especially if you frequent off-leash areas or ravines with water sources. Day two at the Carnival was so much fun! We had a ton of happy customers and, by the end of the day, some very dirty ones! Unfortunately, with the slightly warmer weather on Sunday, the ground became a mucky mess, but the dogs still had a blast running (and rolling) around. I’m sure there [...]

Stumbled across this article and thought it to be a good reality check! Some of us have dogs with “issues” and wish that our dog could just be “normal”… Do we REALLY want a “normal” dog? I don’t think so!

What wonderful and amazing companions our canines are. It is awe inspiring what measures they will take and what they will endure to protect their humans.
With our recent cold temperatures and windchills, we thought it a good idea to remind everyone of the symptoms of frostbite and how to recognize and treat them.
It’s easy to stay a bit longer at the park than we should in the winter when we humans are warm in our multiple layers of winter [...]
They say a dog is man’s best friend, but it turns out the sentiment is mutual. Watch the joy overflow from this happy pup upon seeing her owner return from Afghanistan … and then go and give your own furry family members a hug!
You know what they say; the show must go on and that counts for Parades too! There was some light rain as the parade was staging and most of us were pretty damp by the time we got under way, but spirits were high during this much anticipated yearly event. After all, Santa was on [...]
We have recently been made aware of a few cases of mild Kennel Cough in dogs that frequent the dog park. While Kennel Cough is not usually a life threatening condition, it is uncomfortable for your canine and, if not looked after, can lead to more serious illnesses. It is also highly contagious.

This article arrived in my mailbox this morning from Modern Dog Magazine and I thought contained some valuable hints to keep our pooches safe on Halloween: The spookiest night of the year is almost upon us. A reminder if you border a greenspace in Town to be vigilant when letting your pets out in your backyard or when out walking in the early morning or evening. Just last night a dog lost her life within safety of her own dog run.

It was another hot one for the clean up! A big thank you to Laurie & Daniel who dropped by to help out with the litter around the park. Fantastic job
Thanks also go to Spike’s dad who helped out with the line trimming in the park today – the help was very much appreciated!
Work on the long anticipated crosswalk across Tower Hill Road has begun. It will certainly be a relief to park users and residents to have a marked crossing to use as this road is a bit of a raceway!
The Town has been flooded with letters of support; some have been shared with the K9 Klub and some have not, but ALL are appreciated. Of course we still have a couple of months until the Parks report will be presented to Council and there is no such thing as too many letters, so keep [...]
