Being the first of its kind in Richmond Hill, the park is attracting a number dogs and their owners new to the off leash park experience. The OSPCA has published a ‘Beginners Guide to Dog Park Etiquette’ which we would encourage all park goers to read.

Our role

The Richmond Hill K9 Klub shares responsibility for the ongoing operations of the park with the Town of Richmond Hill including:

  • Ensuring that the facility is kept free of dog waste
  • Routine inspection and temporary fence repairs
  • Repair of holes and/or turf damage
  • Fostering awareness around the rules applicable to the off leash area and the consequences for breaking the applicable rules amongst users of the area
  • Facilitating communication and cooperation amongst dog owners, between dog owners and other park users, and between the group itself and Town staff

It is not intended that volunteers be responsible for enforcement of off leash dog area rules.

Future plans for the park

Park upgrades are also part of our responsibility. We have plans to add the following in the coming months:

  • Permanent enclosed signage including a bulletin board for notices (Completed July 2010!)
  • Shrubs in the small dog enclosure to add some appeal to dogs and humans alike
  • Agility equipment
  • Sun Shade
  • Your ideas!

Of course, no upgrades are free. Fundraising is on the agenda, but if you’d like to help out immediately, please use the button provided below to donate.
